After much frustration and wasted time, I decided to delete all of the old saves. After the space is full, the game crashes every 10 minutes or so when I try to save, or autosave is triggered. The game default to use steam cloud save which has limited space. But what ultimately led me to quit the game altogether is the game save problem. I've encountered at least 4 quests that bugged out and I have to reload. Those unbalanced situations happen throughout Chapters 1 and 2. But if you are a filthy casual who doesn't want to invest a couple of extra hours doing fetch quests and whatnot, then GG, the only option is to change to journalist mode. I can imagine though, that if you come fully drugged up and oiled up, with the mobility, counter, and vigor upgrades and a highly damaging weapon, you will have a much easier time. Then there is quite literally no room you can do damage to him, while each hit from him chops off a big portion of your HP. Imagine going into the fight with only 2 vigor slots, and having the bare minimum character points. On Normal this is practically impossible if you don't have the right build/preparation. On Easy this fight is way too easy, you just spam R1 and he's dead. Another example is Letho's first encounter. So the majority of the fight is you trying to steer clear of Kayran's wrath with a slither of health while tearing your hairs out, AND waiting for vigor to regen so you can progress. You need Yrden to progress the fight, and you need Quen to not lose 2/3 of your health to some BS tentacle AoE. If you run into the Kayran battle without the trap and only have 2 vigor slots, then have fun getting one-shotted by Kayran on normal/hard difficulty! If you cast Yrden and Quen, then you can't cast Yrden again until 10 seconds after Quen runs out. But for a newbie, the game has extremely poor, unbalanced designs sometimes. I can see how one could min-max their character early on and absolutely annihilate enemies on higher difficulties. Spam Quen when getting ganked block+counter if the gankers are human Spam Yrden when 1v1 big bois. Oil can be applied anytime so not a priority. Pop rook + swallow (and gad well if the enemy could two-shot you) in anticipation of a gank. Also, Quen prevents vigor regen so you need a lot of slots to comfortably use it! Prioritize vigor slots over anything else! You can't heal mid-combat so you can only rely on regen from potions and Quen to absorb massive damage. It is rather convoluted and I begin to figure out what works for me mid-Chapter 2. Really wanted to like this game, as I enjoyed many parts of the main quest (Roche path).
